Just as I was about to retire to bed on Thursday, 2nd June 2022, I saw the trending video of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu addressing the APC delegates ahead of the party’s primaries at the presidential lodge in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Asiwaju who spoke in Yoruba expressed his displeasure at the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun who had earlier openly endorsed the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
In the video, Tinubu told everyone that Dapo Abiodun would never have been the Governor of Ogun State Governor in 2019 if he had not supported him. He also told everyone about how he led the struggle that led to the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo in 2015. He said Buhari would never have been President if not for him.
I feel for Tinubu.
How can someone who has invested and sacrificed so much for the political career of others be thrown under the bus by the same people for whom he has made so many sacrifices? Why are they bent on destroying him politically?
You see, the APC may have forgotten that this man in question is a Master Strategist who will never go down without a fight. His case is like the proverbial fishbone which can neither be swallowed nor spat out.
With this recent outburst by the Jagaban, are you still by any chance wondering what may happen if he doesn’t clinch the APC Presidential ticket? Wonder no more.
Denying him the ticket may just be the beginning of the end of this political party that was formed on the 6th of February 2013 to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
