Day Three
Have you arrived? This question had been on my mind for the past 48 hours. Yes, my car was faulty but I was more concerned about his trip. His arrival was something I needed to know. I constantly checked my Whatsapp chat, waiting to see a response from him. I hoped he got there in one piece. And the soups? Ha! That was what was uppermost in my mind. I had always prided myself in my cooking. And he specifically requested that I cook him, egusi soup, bitter leaf soup, and pepper soup to travel with. At the time, I found the request ridiculous and later on, I obliged him. I also fried some goat meat and I had neatly packed everything. My only prayer was that the soups don’t get confiscated at the airport. You know I really don’t know these border rules and regulations. I just wished one could freely move around without visas and restrictions. Besides, the world was given to us freely, so why so much trouble to move around?
The beep from my phone jolted me from my thoughts.
“I have arrived, at the airport, I will call you as soon I am settled.” He wrote.
“Thank God” I sighed.
Relieved that he had made it.
