Former Nigerian international Wilson Oruma who was captain of the U-17 World Cup winning side in 1993 has suffered a relapse of the emotional disorder he suffered 6 years ago.

The midfield maestro who played for teams like RC Lens, Nancy, Samsunspor, Nimes, Servette, Sochaux, Marseille, Guingamp, and Kavala FC of Greece retired from active football in 2010. Shortly after, he was duped of a whopping sum of N1.2billion by a clergyman and some fake oil businessmen.

His close friend Emakpor Dibofun told Complete Sports Nigeria;

Wilson (Oruma) hasn’t really recovered from the emotional disorder which he suffered after he was duped. He has been to several places in search of a lasting solution, but it gets worse after a bit of improvement.

Another Nigerian international and former chairman of Lagos State Football AssociationWaidi Akanni told Complete Sports of efforts by Oruma’s former teammates to help him:

We have contacted some of his colleagues whom he played with during his days at the national team and there have been positive news regarding what we are trying to do. But nothing more I can discuss publicly just yet, but he needs help. We just pray all goes well, so we can help him out of this precarious situation.
