Abraham was called a friend of God, do you know why? Because he knew God intimately and personally. A lot of us claimed to know God when actually we don’t.
There is a difference between knowing someone intimately and personally and knowing things about that person. For instance, when we think of a famous person like Buhari or any of the famous Nigerians, we would say, oh I know about him but someone who is a personal friend with such person would brag, yes, but I know him personally and dele, dele (intimately). The person who is a good friend of this famous person will know the truth about him, whether the rumors the magazines publish are true, or just made up to get readers. He will know everything about that person’s life, and enjoy every moment with him. Why? Because they are friends!
There are many things that have been writren and said about God, but there is only one way to know the truth about Him – through a personal and intimate relationship with Him. God desires our friendship and wants to enjoy every minute of it. This is the type of relationship God is looking for. Abraham knew everything about God and He lived his life to please God. So why can’t we?
God loves us, no matter where we have been and no matter what we have done, He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will always preserve our going out and coming in. A few of you reading this may have done something so terrible that it would lead you to think that God can’t possibly love you. But I am assuring you this morning that He still does.
Can you just believe Him? Can you believe that God is better than you and can love you even when you wouldn’t love yourself? Can you believe He will forgive you even when you can’t forgive yourself?
A relationship with God requires faith, and this is one of those times we need faith. Remember that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ that is preached (Romans 10:17).
Let’s have faith that God is better than us and can love us even when we can’t love ourselves and our neighbours.
Good morning and have a blessed day.
