“Joy to the world the Lord is come, let earth receive her king…” This is a popular Christmas hymn and why you are all wondering why I penned it down. Jesus is the reason for the season. But for some, Christmas holds bad memories for them because they lost their loved ones or they were disappointed. Cheer up, this is the time to be merry and thankful. It could have been worse. Others are too busy rounding up their yearly report and all and so have no special plans for the Christmas and by the time they realise this, it would be too late.
So here are 5 fantastic ways to spend your Christmas holidays . These are things you will think of later next year and smile. Even if you have planned a nice trip to the village, it can be stressful and you still need some of this to have a jolly good Christmas celebrations. By now we have all put up our Christmas decorations, set up our Christmas trees and we all can feel the spirit of christmas. In less than two weeks …as the clock ticks we would be set to say “Merry Christmas”
1. Christmas Carol: What’s Christmas without lovely Christmas songs.
Christmas would be bleak if we can’t sing and praise God. Make sure to attend a nice Christmas carol and sing so loud that the angels would hear you.
2.Christmas Eve Vigil: Yay! The vigil is another fantastic way to spend Christmas. A night to Christmas.
You pray and cross over to Christmas in fellowship with brethren. How awesome can that be? Try it and I bet you would never miss a Christmas eve vigil.
3. Christmas party: And after the spiritual aspect of Christmas …it is time to have some fun. Boogie down to some nice jams and eat some delicious meal. *read special Christmas meals to prepare* You can have the party with family and friends and if you are too tired to host a party. You all can meet up in a fun place like the beach, an outdoor place or something similar. Just have fun all the way.
Exchange gifts with your family, make them feel loved too. After all, Christ our saviour received gifts from the three wise men. *Wink*
4. A Movie/Book: If you are a movie freak, now is the time to spoil yourself rotten with some good Christmas movies and action movies. The wedding party is out, so head to the cinemas and enjoy it with some popcorn and a drink.
And if you are not a movie freak, relax on the couch with a nice book, it could be fiction or non-fiction. For fiction, I recommend a Christmas novel, it makes you feel the spirit of Christmas more.
5.Time With Less Privileged/Resort: Ok. Not everyone has the spirit of celebrating with the less privileged. Most times we think this is done by only the very rich or Celebrities. But we too can put a smile on the faces of the orphans in our community or less privileged people. We need not have much to do this. And guess what? We would be happier for it. And if you can’t visit directly try to contribute a token to them. The less privileged are many in our society. It could be that old man who is almost going blind and has no money to feed. It could be the single more who can’t feed her children or a widow who has nothing to eat.
It could be motherless babies. The list is endless. Just give something and touch someone’s life positively in the spirit of Christmas. Ok. After that hit the resort and do some out door sport. It could be archery. And yes. There is archery is Lagos. I will tell you more about it here.
Cheers and have a merry Christmas celebration.
