God is in control

These are perilous times and there is so much fear in the land. Just mention it, fear of the future, fear of the unknown,  financial fear, health fear fear of recession, fear of exchange rates, fear of going to possess your possessions and many more. I have good news for you today, God is telling us today that we should be strong and of good courage, we should not fear nor be dismayed with what is happening around us (Deuteronomy 31:6), that He will strengthen and uphold us (Isaiah 41:10). He said that he will not leave us or forsake us so why should we fear?
We know the story in the Bible (Exodus 14)  how God had just set the Israelites free from bondage in Egypt. Pharaoh set them free and they were on the journey to the promise land. They had camped by the sea and Pharaoh changed his mind. He wanted Israel to continue to be their slaves. His army pursued the Israelites and caught up with them and it appears they were trapped as there was nowhere for them to go. They became terrified and cried out to the Lord. It was God’s plan for Israel to be set free and to live in the promise land. They had prayed for freedom and God gave it to them. And yet in the midst of all the miracles that God had done for them, they became afraid.
God has a plan for all of us. He has placed dreams in all of our hearts. As we approach the victory line, if we are not careful, we will become like the children of Israel. We will become afraid. Fear is a terrible attribute to have in our life. Fear is the opposite of faith. If our enemy can get us to be afraid, we will begin to doubt God’s plan for our lives.
We allow our enemy instill fear in us because we are ignorant. In my training programs, I used to tell the participants that ignorance is the breeding ground for fear. So instead of allowing our enemy to instill fear in us, we need to be standing on the promises of God. In fact, we need to be circling the promises of God.
When we become afraid or if any situation make us afraid, all we need to do is to pray the promises of God that are written in His Word. When Moses heard the cry of his people, he did not panicked,  he said “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again (Exodus 14:13). I pray the same prayer for you this morning; every Egyptians in your lives will perish forever this morning and you shall see them no more. Amen
God performed the greatest miracle that generation had seen. They stepped out in faith, crossed the sea, and watched God destroy their enemy.
Jesus said, we should not let our hearts be troubled; we must trust in God and trust in Him also (John 14:1). If we trust in our Father and believe His Word, why should we allow fear to hinder what God desires to do for us? Fear is not from God, it is from the deceiver. We are people of faith, not fear.
This morning, I am asking you that what is God asking you to do that fear is standing in the way of your miracle?
As for me, I know that the Lord is with me; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6); hence I am marching on – recession or no recession. What about you?
I pray that may God banish all manner of spirit of fear from our lives for he has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Amen.
