An Abakaliki Magistrate Court, Wednesday remanded one Ogobuchi Ogonna, 25, for drowning his 3-year-old step-brother, Wisdom Ogbonna Amagu.

The suspect allegedly tied a big stone around the waist of the victim, and threw him into a stream in the area where he drowned.

The incident occurred at Ndiebor Nchoko, Igbeagu Community in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.

Wednesday, he was arraigned on a one count charge of unlawful cause of death.

The Magistrate, Nnachi Olughu, who ordered that the suspect be remanded in prison custody till November 18, also ordered that the case file be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for necessary action as the court lacked the jurisdiction to handle the matter.
