Alicia Keys looked lovely without makeup at the MTV Video Music Awards which held on 28 August at the Madison Square Garden. Her decision not to wear makeup was revealed in Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter in May.

“I was finally uncovering just how much I censored myself, and it scared me. Who was I anyway? Did I even know HOW to be brutally honest anymore? Who I wanted to be? …I hope to God its a revolution. ‘Cause I don’t want to cover anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.”
