And if you are a sucker for good romantic comedies movies like me. Here is a movie for you. The Wedding Party  is a Nigerian movie. It is a  love story revolving around the lives of two young love birds Dunni Coker and Dozie  as they plan to take their wedding vows.  The bride’s parents are excited and decides to go on a spending spree  to make this the wedding of the century. Dunni’s about to be mother-in-law, Obianuju, is having second thoughts about allowing her son marry into a family she considers as beneath them.

Between matchmaking attempts on the bridal train, a wedding planner on a mission to succeed, the unruly behaviour of some ‘village’ guests and the groom’s ex-girlfriends looking to make their mark, it is quite glaring that the wedding will be a lavish wedding which would turns into a Lagosian chaos. The story line  reminds me of  American romcom  like Jumping the Broom when the Bride’s mother felt  her family was superior to the groom’s family and disliked any form of association with the groom’s mother. That snobbish nature is comparable to Dozie’s mother.

Also License To Wed is another romcom which can be compared to The Wedding Party, two love birds set to wed and then someone is hell bent on causing chaos for his or her own selfish gains.

The Wedding Party  has  been selected to screen at the Toronto International  Festival(TIFF) starting on September 8- 16. It stars your favorite actors and actresses such as RMD, Adesua Etomi, Ali Baba, Ireti Doyle, Ayo Makun, Banky W and the lot. Banky W was at his very best as he gives an astonishing performance.

I am already excited and my heart is pumped with excitement for this one. Can’t wait to see this movie. *wink” We shall wait though , trust movie producers and actors to give us the hype and make us sweat and wait till they are  ready to release the movie. As such no date has been set for its premier in Nigeria. But for the very wealthy ones amongst us, you can catch a flight to Toronto to see the movie on 8 September, 2016 at the Historic Elgin Theatre.
