The Estonian sisters took part in the marathon on Sunday and although they did not finish first. It was like a breath of fresh air to see them run. Lily was the fastest of the sisters, finishing 97th with a time of 2:48:29, followed by Leila, who ran in 2:54:38 to place 114th. Liina did not finish the race.
And while the triplets were not the only sisters to run in the marathon, the German twins Anna and Lisa Hahner also took part in the marathon.
The Hahner sisters finished just a second apart, with Anna crossing the line 81st in 2:45:32, and Lisa at 82nd in 2:45:33
The event was won by Kenyan Jemima Jelagat Sumgong in a time of 2:24:04.
Bahrain’s Eunice Jepkirui Kirwa claimed silver in 2:24:13 and Ethiopian Mare Dibaba snatched the bronze in 2:24:30.
