I am just me, I grew up in a Christian home where the tenets of the gospel was taught and practiced. Then I became an adult and life changed. Living in the city was quite different from living in a small town where you could be timely for everything. Here, it was different, if you are too early to church, the first service might still be on and if you are some minutes late then the second service might have advanced.

It was here I noticed we can be  1hour or 30minutes late to church and we won’t flinch or be embrassed. We would raise our heads high and walk in proudly. Some people even said. “They just go to church to listen to the preaching and that was it.”

Not that I blame them that much. Then one day I read an article about us not going late for appointments or late to work but we go late to church. The article condemned late coming and asked that we repent from it.

Yes, I know the feeling we get when we are early, we haughtily look down at the late comers and instantly judge them.

We see them as sinners who cannot even make an effort to serve God. We look at their clothes and later complain about their heels distracting us.

We are equally guilty. Everyone is struggling in life and even though some people have resolved to make it early they just don’t have it in them or there is all those last minute preparations. The baby pooing on his or herself, the baby’s food being packed. Etc

What of a situation where one gave assitance to a fellow being and thereby comes late to church or when one is ill but still dragged his or her self or one trying to win a soul for Christ or extremely tired from over work. Yes! it does happen to people who have to work 6 days in a week.
I do go late to church  at times and every day I strive to make it earlier than the last. Some times I am later but I know I serve a God who sees my heart and my desire and my obstacles and who understands it all. So next time one is condemning you remember God is not human and he sees it all, knows it all and understands you best. It is between you and him, strive for him not for humans to praise you as a righteous person but for God to accept you as righteous.
